I got back from Barcelona last night, a couple of hours ahead of schedule. It was great fun, if exhausting – I know I’m not the only one who really needed a nap by Thursday. The really stand-out session for me wasn’t the media player one (I think Seb had that one completely under control without me injecting my £0.0123854347). No, my favourite session was entitled “Debian Relationship Healthcheck”, where a bunch of Ubuntu community people, Canonical people, Debian people, and combinations thereof, got together to talk about the importance of thinking Debian First – and to go back retrospectively and see how well that relationship has worked over the past cycle or two. I was delighted to have the opportunity to give a brief talk about the relationship between Ubuntu and Debian where the Mono team is concerned, which is a collaboration I’d like to think could be considered a real success story. Even Mark slipped into the session (as he did for many sessions throughout the time I was there) to cast an eye on where people feel that relationship stands, and offer his own suggestions. Overall, I’d say that session was definitely the one I’m happiest having been part of. With any luck the audio will be online at some point (it wasn’t a videotaped session).

It was also good fun having a chance to socialize a little (insofar as the hectic schedule allowed), and the most fun event would probably be the evening spent at a pizza place in town during the Football match – there was lots of beer during, and free celebratory Cava afterwards.

For the curious, I had an X-ray this afternoon and the hand i was moaning about wasn’t broken – just soft tissue damage. On the down side, that means I don’t seem to be as much of a badass who braves major personal injuries to be at a conference. But never mind, I didn’t really think it would be nice to have it in a cast.
